Zen Pinball 2 Gets a Release Date—And a Mystery Table!

Zen Pinball 2 will release on September 4, 2012 on PlayStation®Network for PS3 and PS Vita! We know you have all been anxiously awaiting the arrival of Zen Pinball 2, and to make this launch even sweeter, the PopCap table we’ve been working on is going to release as DLC on the same day! Zen Pinball 2 will launch with TONS of great features, many of which were suggested by our community:

• Any Zen Pinball or Marvel Pinball content purchased previously, today or in the future will enjoy PS3 and PS Vita cross-platform entitlement! Buy it once and get it on both devices at no extra charge!

• New social competition features, such as simultaneous online multiplayer competition, split-screen multiplayer, friend scoreboards, worldwide scoreboards and more!

• Free trials of every table so players can try before they buy

• All Zen Pinball and Marvel Pinball tables have received graphics and physics updates and new trophies

• Also—Zen Pinball 2 is totally FREE! Simply download it and import your tables from Zen Pinball and/or Marvel Pinball. You can also purchase any tables you don’t already own, as all 26 tables will be available at launch!

This PopCap mystery table will also be available for Pinball FX2 on Xbox 360 on September 5, 2012, and we will reveal the table in just a few weeks at PAX Prime! If you are going to PAX, make sure to stop by the PopCap booth where you will be able to play the table before it releases!

God I’d eat some brains for some PvsZ action :D Any chance of a bundle sale for tables on release? I’d gladly throw some money your way for some table collections. I’m a “buy in bulk” kinda guy!

  2. Peter says:

Awesome. I’m looking forwards to this for Vita. I would welcome CastleStorm as well, which looks just as epic.

  3. Yeahbeer says:

What about EU? Will they get it on the 5th?

  4. XXLGaming says:

Finally! Been looking forward to the Vita version for quite some time. Definitely can’t wait for the Pop Cap Games table for Pinball FX 2!!! Hats off Zen!

  5. djwille says:

Yesssssss my psvita is screaming for zen pinball. Also my ps3 is happy again. Thxxxxxx zen for this great news.

  6. Cloda says:

Kind of sad that Pinball FX 3 is not being released at the same time as Zen Pinball 2. On the other hand, FX 2 is on all accounts much better than Zen pinball so it would be worth the wait if FX 3 is able to iron out all the inevitable issues and make the required tweaks from Zen pinball 2 before releasing FX 3. Very interested to hear if (and how) the physics engine has been updated.

No matter what the Popcap table is; peggle, zuma, PvsZ etc., I just really hope that it is a bit tougher than Zen’s collaboration on Ms. Splosion Man… still a good table, just too easy to get to Wizard mode and long games is way too easy.

  7. ShoryukenToTheChin says:

Awesome news, wonder what the PopCap will be?

  8. Prepare to Game says:

Woo Hoo! Sept 4 is my anniversary….hope my wife understands :)

As I understand, Zen Pinball tables will be improved, ?

  9. Prepare to Game says:

    Thx Barbie!

    Bejeweled btw

  10. Serge says:

September 4 is my birthday =) Nice present!

  11. ChazzH69 says:

Thank you for giving us a release date and news on the PopCap ‘Plants vs Zombies’ table. Keep up the great work at Zen Studios.

Will you be attending the Eurogamer Expo – http://www.eurogamer.net/expo/contact
It’ll be the deciding factor in getting a ticket.

Oh and would you give a shout out to William Mackellar who won the PSNation Zen Pinball League -

  12. karen says:

will this available in hong kong market?

  13. CaveBo says:

I can see where “Plants vs. Zombies” would make an awesome table, “Bejeweled” could be pretty…, “Zuma” lends itself to aiming colored balls at targets… Don’t know! Stoked to have a release date! Thanks!

  14. Bring Howard the Duck to Zen Pinball says:

    Plants vs. HOWARD THE DUCK

  15. Espy says:

It has to be Peggle, surely… Peggle is basically pinball already. I’d love to see how you would combine the gameplay of both games. And having bumpers with the Peggle “dun” noise would be epic.

If it is PVZ… you better make a Peggle table too!

  16. Sun Vulcan says:

And iOS? Where are the tables from Avenger Chronicles and the old ones?

  17. It’s gotta be Plants vs. Zombies. I don’t know what other PopCap franchise would make a good table. Bejeweled doesn’t have any characters. Possibly Peggle or Heavy Weapon. Bookworm would be a stretch.

  18. Linju says:

Which Peggle game? All of them! Like an all-stars featuring PvZ, Bookworm, Bejeweled, and Peggle! With lots of different modes and sub tables!

  19. ChazzH69 says:

Any idea on a price for the PopCap table or is it way too early for that?

I know this isn’t the time or place but BarbieBobomb, you avatar picture is annoying me, it should have a transparent background. So I made you one..

Go to the bottom of this page then right click & save on your new picture..

  20. JeffreyG says:

Any updates about the Windows 8 version of Pinball FX?

  21. DanHD says:

Thanks for the work on ZP2 who seems a very good product on PS Vita and PS3 in S3D !
(I love already my ZP and Marvel PB tables)

    I can’t wait to play in S3D on my PS3, I had loved the 3DS version…

About the ORIENTATION (landscape/portrait) of the ZP2 Vita version, you have already said (on the Playstation.Blog ZP2 “Zen Pinball 2 Scores on PS3, Vita September 4th With PopCap Table” posted by Zsolt Kigyossy // Managing Director, Zen Studios) that it will be present and that your prefer this portrait mode :

But, in PORTRAIT mode, will it be possible to play with the Vita “REAL” BUTTONS (which ones?) instead of “virtual” buttons on the touch screen?

I have now the experience of playing in Portrait mode on the Vita with Pinball Arcade, and it is not at all the same feelings with the virtual (touch) buttons on the screen.
And the playability (quality) of the game is pretty bad in Portrait mode ONLY due to the use of the virtual buttons (no other possible choice for REAL physic buttons is possible in the menu, only virtual buttons in Portrait mode).

I’ll hope that you have had the great idea to propose the use of REAL buttons in BOTH Landscape or Portrait mode, because it is very important to have a good feeling that only a real button can give to you.

Of course, as you mention, it is more pleasant/enjoyable to play pinball in portrait mode on the Vita, but if it is ruined by the playability problem due to virtual buttons, it will be a very bad point…

Thanks in advance for your answer…

  22. DanHD says:

    Sorry for this double post…
Answer will be on the ZP2 forum…

    • BarbieBobomb says:

What kind of device are you using? Are you getting an error message? Any details you can give me would help me figure out what the problem is :)

  24. graymalkinps says:

I have owned all your tables for Xbox. But earlier this year bought both Vita and PS3. Having discovered PFX2 was coming to PS3 and Vita (from those guys at Blog.Playstation) got me so excited I went immediately to the PSN store and bought all the tables yet again! Can’t wait, you do such a great job with these games and tables. Looking forward to the PopCap table and anything else you all put out for us! Love being a fan of the Zen Studios Pinball. Best wishes for your release(s)!

  25. Pat says:

(excuse my poor english please, from Paris, France)
Love your tables ! I have bought many of them on Zen pinball 1 and Marvel pinball on ps3, and just went envious about the XBOX 360 version which allowed to play all of them on one game : FX-2…
And now, Zen Pinball 2 allows it too !! I’m so GLAD !!! Thank you Zen Studios, far all the good work, I haven’t taken such pleasure, since REAL physical Pinballs, and since Pinball Dreams/Fantasies on AMIGA (perhaps are there devs from these games amongst your studios ??? lol).

Thank you for the good work again, AND LOVE TO ALL OF YOU !!! Can’t wait to discover the POPCAP table ! (and other partnerships !)
    To infinity and beyond !

  26. karen says:

when will it launch in asia? can’t wait!!

  27. Lars says:

It’s so stupid. Even though I have all tables I tried if I could activate captain america. Well away wen’t my money.
Stay away from this. They promise but It don’t work-

    • BarbieBobomb says:

Hi Lars! Are you having issues importing your tables into Zen Pinball 2? I’d be more than happy to help you out :)

  28. Pat says:

Hey Lars and BarbieBobomb, Captain America table, which I own too, couldn’t be imported to Zen Pinball 2 at first. It was planned for the future…
Perhaps the import of this table is still in developpement ?

    • BarbieBobomb says:

It should import just fine, is it giving you an error message? You might have to redownload the table from the PSN store rather than importing it. It shouldn’t charge you since you have already purchase it.

  29. Pat says:

Mea culpa, it’s FANTASTIF FOUR table which can’t be imported to Zen pinball 2…
I should have bought Street Fighter instead… Poor Fantastic four !

  30. Pat says:

Hey Lars and BarbieBobomb, Fantastic Four table, which I own too, couldn’t be imported to Zen Pinball 2 at first. It was planned for the future…
Perhaps the import of this table is still in developpement ?
