Zen Studios once again delivers a solid pinball experience to Xbox Live Arcade with Pinball FX 2. One of the final titles in the Game Feast promotion that Microsoft has been running comes ringing in as one of most addictive and fun titles on XBLA. Everything from graphics to gameplay as well as all new achievements are included with the latest game. But that isn’t the best part. Pinball FX 2 is free to download to everyone. Yes, I said free. Also Pinball FX 2 is completely compatible with the DLC that was released with the first Pinball FX title as well as the original tables. So if you owned Pinball FX and downloaded DLC tables, you’ll be able to play all of those tables with the new rendition.

The original Pinball FX came with three tables, while FX 2 comes with four when you purchase the core pack. What’s much more important, though, is that the table designs of these four new offerings are across the board far superior to the original FX tables. In the original game, each table was a bit cramped, with a similar theme across all three tables: a lower area separated by an upper area, with one extra flipper on the left hand side. Also, just comparing how the tables generate flow of play shows how much better the new tables are – the old tables feel clunky and full of dead spots where your ball would just bounce off scenery and not provide any delicious points. In the new tables, there is so much more to interact with.

Is the full FX2 available now on XBox?

  2. alex says:

is there any way we can get an option to play the pinball fx2 tables “long-ways” on the tv?

i want to use a 360 and pinball fx2 to run a virtual pinball cabinet. the only way to make that work is to be able to rotate the tables on the tv.

    • BarbieBobomb says:

Unfortunately right now there is no way to play in portrait mode, sorry!

    • Raymond says:

Be careful that your display will be viewed nicely from the intended angles… playing… spectating, etc. I tried a high end Viewsonic for viewing in portrait mode for full page publication viewing and it was unuseable… no fault of theirs, just not built for that.

    • Richard says:

I second this. Have already made a MAME cabinet and now I really wanna make a virtual pinball table but PC is the only option. It’s a shame the 360 version is supported better than the windows 8 version. Hope that changes in the future or they add a portrait camera option :)

      Great game still :)

  3. dave grisoff says:

I think when FX3 comes out, (which I have no doubt it will), DEFINITELY need to have the portrait option. After all, the pinball tables that were made after the original gambling contraption of the early 20th century, they all were built longways, not in widescreen, that’s just for movies!

    • OrangeCrush says:

No doubt, Pinball tables were designed longways, but HDTV’s and 99.9% of the rest of the games on the market are designed the opposite way, with width being the longer measurement. So it just doesnt make any sense from a business perspective to make a portrait option available. The only people that would have any interest in a portrait mode are people that plan to create some sort of home pinball cabinet using an HDTV and Pinball FX2 and I can’t imagine there are more than a couple hundred people tops, worldwide, that are actually planning such a project. Again, it just doesnt make any business sense spending time and money adding such a feature.

  4. Roger says:

I have bought the Civil war table for Win8.

Though Excalibur and 10 other tables are working properly, Civil war table starts loading, and loading and loading… and nothing happens. Any idea?

  5. Jim Estes says:

If I already have the game on xdox do I need to repurchase it for my tadlet?

    • BarbieBobomb says:

Unfortunately there is no way for us to transfer purchases across platforms made by different companies. The only cross play option that is available to our players is between PS3 and Vita. Sorry for any inconvenience.

  6. Simon L. says:

on fx2 the epic quest table has faults.when you drop a ball in the wheel on extra ball, when you get the multiball half of the time the game awards you a super jackpot instead. But the main problem is the xp bar,it wont fill up anymore absolutely no red goes in at all any ideas how2remedy this? Also 1 final gliche when you launch the ball you aim for the lit slot, that is until you save the game, because when you come back to the game it never lets you get the ball into the lit lane the ball either comes back to launch position or goes shooting past? Apart from that the game plays fine lol

  7. Aaron says:

Are there any plans to do any based on real pinball tables?

    • BarbieBobomb says:

Sorry, we just make our own original designs! You won’t likely ever see us remake an existing real-life table.

      • Fred says:

No disrespect to existing classic tabels, but FX2 is so cool with its physics and tables, there is plenty of good pinball to be had there.

  8. brian says:

I am playing the Windows 8 version and when I try to buy The Star Wars tables and Zen Classic tables packs it says cannot purchase at this time please try again later. How do I correct this since I have updated FX2 and tried to buy through the table and through games app/extras

  9. brian says:

supposedly, as per an email I sent, Zen is aware of the problem and is working on it with Microsoft

  10. Lolita says:

I just purchased the Zen Classic 4 pack: Eldorado, Shaman, V12, and Tesla.
Its on Windows 8 and it tells me I need an update to play all 4 of them. It just
downloaded them when I purchased them so why would the update not
come with the purchase?? I can’t find an update.
    Please help!

    Thank You

    • BarbieBobomb says:

Click on the store app on the Start page and you’ll see Pinball FX2 listed. Click on it to install the update.

  11. Donald Gibson says:

A couple of questions. First why does almost all of your tables lag now. Secondly why do I have broken tables on my 360 when I know I’ve bought them. Please email me a response back as fast as you are able to. Thank you for your time.
    Donald Gibson

  12. Andy says:

When you release Pinball FX 2 for steam, will you transfer Windows 8 table purchases across to the steam copy?

        • BarbieBobomb says:

Make sure you’re using the same PSN account and try downloading the demos to unlock them.

  14. dustman says:

I have the same PSN code and the two games can not unlock.

ps: I have bought two games
    thanks for your help

    • BarbieBobomb says:

Try downloading the demos for both tables and restarting.

      • dustman says:

I’ve already tried it, but nothing availed.
I have now bought the two tables again
But hanz become pretty expensive as a table € 2.99

  15. magyster says:

Why not available from hungary? I search for this game – “0 results for pinball fx2″.

  16. pinballfan says:

Can I purchase Marvel Pinball for Windows 7/8 without using Steam? Would like to get a boxed version if possible. Thanks.

    • BarbieBobomb says:

You can get it via Windows 8, but we do not do physical copies of the game- only downloadable versions available, sorry!

  17. Svatlas says:

    Steam Version;)

  18. Ivan says:

    Great simulator, congratulations Zen!

Do you have any plans on releasing one or two tables with genuine pinball feel & performance, without computer-generated characters, animation and effects? For example some “Vintage series” where only laws of physics exist?
    Made for diehard fans. :P

  19. bugjp says:

love the game wish i had enough money to get all the tables when the sale was out i was only able to get the first set not star wars or the marvel tables im still kinda sad i would love the marvel tables and star wars tables too

  20. Eugene Larrabee says:

Hi I’ve been playing Marvel pinball now for a while and I was hoping to see some videos of Avengers, Hulk, Thor and so on is there anywhere on here to watch videos. I was hoping to see how to get better and to see how to get different bonuses. Thank You

  21. Matthew Campbell says:

I absolutely adore this game, particularly the Liverpool FC edition. Unfortunately, the in-game chant is one of Blackpool FC’s not Liverpool FC

  22. Adam3010 says:

Any chance Xbox One getting Agents, Xtreme, Speed Machine, Buccaneer, or Nightmare Mansion?

I did see an Achievement for Earth Defense but see the game is not available, I hope that table is available soon :) i wish i could import from all consoles *sigh
Love your games keep up the outstanding job guys and gals

    • Adam3010 says:

Nevermind! I should try reading a bit :)

What about the original Pinball FX Collection, Nightmare Mansion, Buccaneer and Rocky & Bullwinkle?
These are not coming to Xbox One. These were built in old tech, and cannot make the next gen jump.

  23. IgoreMilkman says:

I Bought ZEN classics and Secrets of the deep for Windows 8 Xbox games.. I had steam already and after many days I realized somehow that something is different between them.
I wish that ZEN somehow could merge tables for both “consoles” cause I prefer steam (even though I play on xbox games PC) …
I will continue buying that awesome work!

  24. Karsten says:

do you guys plan a Linux release?
it would be nice for a home-made pinball machine to use something lighter than windows and more customizable than a console.

  25. Wwg2000be says:

I bought pinball fx2 for Windows with all the tables . And now i can’t play none of them. I must pay again. What must i do?

  26. Thomas says:

  27. THOMAS says:

  28. Andreas Christodoulides says:

Hi, I have Pinball FX2 for Xbox 360 and Xbox One. I love both versions but after I launched the game on Xbox One whilst the disc for Elder Scrolls Online was still in there it repeatedly froze and exited the game (with a jarring sound as well). I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game but it still does it. Is there anything I can do to resolve the problem?
